I am sorry that people don't understand that when a hotel is 1/2 mile from the ocean that it means we are not on the water. When you ask for a water view, please listen when we tell you that it is a DISTANT view. Don't tell me that we lied to you and that there is no view of the ocean because you don't have super human powers and can't see through the thick fog that is rolling in. I can not control the weather. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. The people prior to you had no trouble with the view from the room. Go ahead and complain, we will be keeping your money anyway and yelling at me does not work in your favor. You were informed of the cxl policy, just like everyone else. If you had checked the weather before you made the reservations, especially when you made them the night before, you would have seen that the weatherman was calling for rain ALL DAY and ALL EVENING.
I hate people sometimes.

Happy Birthday!
Today is Evan's 2nd birthday. I can't believe how time has flown by. I remember sitting in the staff lounge at work and getting a call saying that Kari was pregnant. I was finally going to be an Auntie. I was so excited. I couldn't wait until they moved back to the states to see my nephew. The time went by and Kari made the move to Maine with Evan ahead of Brett. She needed help. That is how I came to live in Maine. I wanted to be able to see Evan grow up and so I packed up everything I owned and with the help of friends and family drove from Alaska to Maine.
This year we decided to throw Evan a pirate themed birthday. We held it at a local park and invited a couple friends from his school(daycare). We had a blast.
Evan wore his pirate hat the WHOLE time. We were very surprised.
Evan had so much fun playing at the park with his friend Alyssa from school. They were so cute together.
Trying to peak at his presents
Evan had all of his teachers come to the party.
Evan opening his presents
He got super excited when everyone sang Happy Birthday to him.
Aunt Pat the Pirate. Argh, matey.
He was such a little ladies man. And now that he has a cool hot wheels bike, he is irresistible.
Kari found a wonderful lady to make his cake. Not only did it look great, it was delicious.

How do you answer with a straight face?
I have been working on the front line of the hotel industry for over a year now, and I would like to impart some advice of things to not do and or say.
PART 1 - Things not to say*:
1."Are you Asian?"
"Why no,I am not."
"Oh, I thought you were because you have dimples."
2. "Is your hot tub heated?"
3. "That (smoking) room smells like smoke"
4. "Do you know what beige means?"
5. "My husband just went to the bathroom and now the toilet smells like urine."
*The following are direct quotes.
