I am sorry that people don't understand that when a hotel is 1/2 mile from the ocean that it means we are not on the water. When you ask for a water view, please listen when we tell you that it is a DISTANT view. Don't tell me that we lied to you and that there is no view of the ocean because you don't have super human powers and can't see through the thick fog that is rolling in. I can not control the weather. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. The people prior to you had no trouble with the view from the room. Go ahead and complain, we will be keeping your money anyway and yelling at me does not work in your favor. You were informed of the cxl policy, just like everyone else. If you had checked the weather before you made the reservations, especially when you made them the night before, you would have seen that the weatherman was calling for rain ALL DAY and ALL EVENING.
I hate people sometimes.

Happy Birthday!
Today is Evan's 2nd birthday. I can't believe how time has flown by. I remember sitting in the staff lounge at work and getting a call saying that Kari was pregnant. I was finally going to be an Auntie. I was so excited. I couldn't wait until they moved back to the states to see my nephew. The time went by and Kari made the move to Maine with Evan ahead of Brett. She needed help. That is how I came to live in Maine. I wanted to be able to see Evan grow up and so I packed up everything I owned and with the help of friends and family drove from Alaska to Maine.
This year we decided to throw Evan a pirate themed birthday. We held it at a local park and invited a couple friends from his school(daycare). We had a blast.
Evan wore his pirate hat the WHOLE time. We were very surprised.
Evan had so much fun playing at the park with his friend Alyssa from school. They were so cute together.
Trying to peak at his presents
Evan had all of his teachers come to the party.
Evan opening his presents
He got super excited when everyone sang Happy Birthday to him.
Aunt Pat the Pirate. Argh, matey.
He was such a little ladies man. And now that he has a cool hot wheels bike, he is irresistible.
Kari found a wonderful lady to make his cake. Not only did it look great, it was delicious.

How do you answer with a straight face?
I have been working on the front line of the hotel industry for over a year now, and I would like to impart some advice of things to not do and or say.
PART 1 - Things not to say*:
1."Are you Asian?"
"Why no,I am not."
"Oh, I thought you were because you have dimples."
2. "Is your hot tub heated?"
3. "That (smoking) room smells like smoke"
4. "Do you know what beige means?"
5. "My husband just went to the bathroom and now the toilet smells like urine."
*The following are direct quotes.

Slacker
I have been such a slacker lately. My mother and Kristi came for a visit in May and I have yet to post any pictures. Maybe someday I will. But I do have pictures of Evan from the last few days. For the past month and a half it has been pouring rain here on the coast. We finally got some sunshine if only for a few days over the holiday weekend. Kari, Brett, Evan and Brett's parents came to the hotel where I work and played in the pool. Evan is such a water baby.
Yesterday we decided to fill up Evan's little plastic pool and play at home. He was more interested in the hose than his pool.

Best Layed Plans
I had this great idea to have a picnic one day. The sun was shining so we decided to go to his Aunt pat's house to have our picnic (mostly because she has grass and we don't). I packed a beautiful lunch of PB&J's, apples and crackers. As you can tell by the lack of eating pictures no lunch was eaten by Evan that day. He wanted to help Aunt Pat with her yard work. Oh well, it was still fun.
Chore Time
Back when we still had snow and it was finally starting to melt during the day (but then freezing back up at night) we would have to clear the puddles of water on the side walk. Evan really like to help with that chore. But as he is easily distracted by snow and sticks he started to slack on the job at hand.

The Beach
Today Evan, Brett and I met Aunt Pat and Zeus at the beach and had a blast. We threw a tennis ball for Zeus and just ran around and had tons of fun. It's really a shame when you live so close to the ocean and never visit. In the last year I have probably gone to the beach 3 times. I would like to make it my goal to go to the beach at least once a week with Evan.
Pictures will follow shortly.
So it took a while but here are the pictures from the beach.
